Original oil Painting on stretched canvas

I created this piece with Paul Gauguin’s words in mind, “I shut my eyes in order to see.” While working on this piece, I purposefully avoided intricate details in hopes that this painting can become a meditation on perception, inviting viewers to look beyond the obvious and embrace the unseen.

Sometimes, you become so entangled in the little details of things that you lose sight of the bigger picture. Other times, you may gaze so intently at the sky that you overlook the delicate flowers blooming at your feet. This painting, with its intentional lack of fine detail, embodies the delicate balance between the macro and the micro, the vast and the intimate.

It is a reminder that everyone sees the world through a unique lens, shaped by their own experiences and emotions. True understanding requires empathy, the willingness to perceive not just with our eyes, but with our hearts.

Through its simplicity, I hope this painting captures the essence of shifting perspectives. I hope that when you see this piece you remember that reality is diverse and ever-changing for everyone. And isn’t that beautiful?
